Many years ago, long before I had ever heard of, let alone chanted a Kundalini Yoga mantra, a dear friend and mentor suggested that something called “Kundalini Yoga” might be good for me. After a brief search, I discovered (much to my surprise and delight) that my home in Espanola, NM, just “happened” to be four miles away from Yogi Bhajan’s ranch and the center of Kundalini Yoga in the Western Hemisphere. Around the same time, with beautiful synchronicity that could only be orchestrated from the ethers, this same dear friend introduced me to crystal singing bowls, suggesting that they were (and I quote) “right up your alley.” On the auspicious day when my first bowl arrived in my house, I took it out of the box, chimed the side and promptly burst into tears. I knew instantly that light had come to live in my house and I vowed that one day I would put this exquisite sound to music. Along those same lines, upon hearing Gurmukhi as it was being read from the Siri Guru Granth Sahib (the sacred scriptures of the Sikhs) during my first visit to the Gurdwara in Espanola, my knees buckled and I burst into tears. The very cells in my body recognized the sound and I wept.
It is with great, great love and joy that I now offer these mantras and prayers to you in a fusion of two sound currents that are nearest and dearest to my heart. Every crystal bowl on this album was chosen to enhance, expand and support the vibration of these sacred texts. I believe the alchemy of these two sonic frequencies creates a powerful marriage that takes us deep within where we can soar to the highest heights to rest peacefully in the Presence of our own Divine Light.
May this Holy Naad and Sacred Sound give you comfort, bring you joy and be a reminder that the Beloved lives ever and always within you as the Love You Are.
With all my heart,
Ashana
